Encaustic painting goes back over three thousands years ago,the word encaustic is from the greek and it means 'to burn'.It consists on mixing resin,beeswax and pure colour pigment kept on heat to mantain the fluidity.The egiptions and the Romans discover the tecnique after the greeks and used the medium to produce exquisite portraits and crafts.Jasper Jones resurrected this medium in the 60's  with the famous 'American flag' and the 'Dart board'.I like to revive the caracteristics of this captiveting method of painting and I have included few example here.
